Privacy Policy

The short version
Calculator inputs (costs, prices, markups, fee assumptions, tax rates) are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers. We do not create accounts or keep a database of what you typed.
Separately, we run Google Analytics 4 (GA4) (measurement ID G-F1H4DNDCG3) to understand aggregate traffic. We may enable Google AdSense later so the site can stay free; ads are not active on this property yet. Google products can set cookies and collect device / usage data under Google's policies. Ads and analytics never receive your calculator numbers.
Who we are
MarginBase (shopmarginbase.com) is a free informational calculator site for US shop owners and online sellers. Operator contact: contact@shopmarginbase.com. Related pages: methodology, terms of use.
What we do not collect from calculators
- No product costs, sell prices, markups, margins, or break-even inputs leave your device
- No seller account logins, bank details, inventory exports, or tax ID numbers are requested
- No user accounts, profiles, or saved scenarios on our servers
- “Copy link” only puts numbers into the URL in your browser address bar / clipboard — we do not store those URLs unless you send them to us by email
Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4 on this site. Current measurement ID: G-F1H4DNDCG3.
GA4 measures aggregate use — for example which pages are viewed, roughly where traffic comes from, device and browser type, and session timing. That helps us see which calculators are useful and whether pages are broken.
The site loads Google's gtag.js with Consent Mode defaults: analytics_storage granted for measurement; ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization denied until advertising is active and those signals are updated. Config also requests IP anonymization and disables Google signals for this property.
GA4 may use cookies or similar storage (for example _ga) to distinguish sessions. Analytics data is not merged by us with calculator inputs — we have no calculator input store to merge with.

Google AdSense and advertising
AdSense is not serving ads on this property yet. We may enable Google AdSense after the site meets Google’s requirements, to keep the calculators free.
When AdSense (or related Google advertising) is active, those technologies may collect or use information such as cookie identifiers, approximate location derived from IP, browser and device type, pages visited on this site, and prior visits to sites in Google's advertising network — to show ads, measure ad performance, and (where allowed) personalize ads. Until ads are on, ad-related Consent Mode signals stay denied as described above.

- Third-party advertisers and vendors may set their own cookies when ads load

Blocking ads or cookies in your browser may limit measurement or ad relevance; the calculators themselves are designed to work without an account and without requiring ads cookies for core math.
Cookies and similar technologies
Core calculator math does not require cookies. Cookies or local storage may still appear because of:
- Google Analytics 4 (session / client identifiers such as _ga)
- Google AdSense and advertising partners (only if/when ads are enabled)
- Cloudflare or browser security features on rare occasions
- Local development helpers (for example a site-selection cookie on localhost) that are not used to profile you
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Some analytics or ad features may then be unavailable or less accurate.
Hosting and server logs (Cloudflare)
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process standard request metadata — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp, TLS data — for delivery, security, DDoS mitigation, and abuse prevention. We do not use those logs to reconstruct calculator inputs.

Each provider processes data under its own terms. We choose them to run a public website and keep tools free — not to build profiles of your pricing scenarios.
Retention
We do not store calculator inputs. GA4 retention follows the property settings in Google Analytics (commonly a limited event-level window such as 2–14 months, depending on configuration). Ad-related data retention follows Google AdSense / Ads policies when ads are active. Cloudflare security logs are kept for a short operational window and are not used for marketing profiles by us.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
US state privacy notes (including California)
We do not sell personal information in the sense of selling calculator inputs — we never have those. Advertising and analytics partners may use cookies and identifiers as described above; Google provides ad personalization controls linked earlier. California and other US residents may email contact@shopmarginbase.com with privacy requests. Because we do not maintain accounts, we usually have little identifiable data of our own to delete beyond directing you to Google's controls and confirming our practices.
International visitors
The site is aimed at users in the United States working on shop pricing, fees, and break-even. If you visit from elsewhere, hosting and Google services may process data in the United States or other regions where those providers operate.

- Install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on
- Adjust Google ad settings at adssettings.google.com

Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes (for example enabling AdSense, or changing analytics vendors) will be noted clearly on this page. GA4 measurement ID G-F1H4DNDCG3 is configured and disclosed on this page (July 2026).
